    Argentinean design studio RIES have designed a collection of furniture with minimalist and angular lines. The series is named “Alpina”, and consists of 4 pieces including a chair, a workdesk, bookshelf and a shelf. These minimal furniture pieces do not occupy the space as volumes, but rather as a set of vectors and lines floating in the air. In this project designers have mainly sought to blend the formal essence of the furniture, endeavoring to maintain proportions and their relationship with space.

    French design company Harow offers a unique chair in the shape of a human skull with a coating of pure gold. The chair is completely handmade. A fiberglass skeleton is covered with gold, and the seat is made of high quality black velvet.

    A prototype of the chair, made of rubber, was introduced in 2013. The price if this particular piece of furniture is 500 thousand dollars. Chair with blackened steel is also available for order, but the price of it is not reported. The throne is offered under the slogan of “Artistic Furniture Built for Comfort & World Domination”

    So at first glance this house can surprise because it looks like a mix of everything  but on closer observation you may realize how skillfully and tastefully this house combines contemporary interior design and modern facilities. The architects have placed a priority in adaptation to create architectural connection between the historical elements and modern accessories.

    Charming details of old structures consisting brick facade and ceiling beams in the interior are skillfully integrated into a new, inspiring design and a welcoming atmosphere. In addition, the extension of the house gave the opportunity to build fitness and wellness with large swimming pool that offers a spectacular view of the large garden, woods and fields.

    Sliding doors in this area provide a summer variant atmosphere because then it becomes a pool outdoors. The house is equipped mostly minimalist modern furniture and pieces belonging to Scandinavian design and is dominated by bright neutral tones – black, white, gray, black. Feed your eyes!

Ruggie is a mat with built-in alarm clock. Once the alarm starts, you’ll have to step over it up and stand for three seconds otherwise, it won’t stop.     Snoozing just a little harder, designer Winson Tam made a touch sensor and digital display so the time, with bright light projected onto the mat. To be able to properly motivate he made foam padding, which in his own words feels as soft as a cloud.

    As a special feature, the Ruggie has got a built-in speaker that tells motivational quotes. And yeah it allows setting your favorite quotes. Ruggie is available through Kickstarter for $82.

    Designer Alexander Chapelin from the company La Table has created an intriguing series of three tables, which he called the Lagoon. Each product is made from processed Travertine Marble. Subsequently, the pieces are filled with blue resin, which forms the volume, strikingly similar to the sea water.

    On the table the sections of rocks are clearly visible and resembling to the land meeting depth of an ocean. The tables undoubtedly were made under the influence of the surrounding landscape of a small Caribbean island of St. Maarten.

    De Markies – A Timeless Mobile Home Design

    This unusual caravan dubbed as “Markies Camper” is the work of Dutch architect Eduardo Bohtlingk, who made it as part of “Temporary Living” competition in 1985. The architect decided to redesign the trailer so that it increased its surface area more than doubled, yet still allowed easy transportation. The result was a timeless design which still is being appreciated by designers.

    In the central part of the house there is a kitchen, storage room and dining room. In one of the side parts lies a bedroom and living room. Interestingly, this project was already realized in 1985. However, after 11 years De Markies managed to scoop first Public Rotterdam Design Prize.

    Despite the passage of years, owning a home on wheels in such a form is probably the dream of many of us.
