Barbershop Thirties Style Shave Do It Like a Real Man

Have you ever gotten a shave from a trained professional at a barbershop? It’s the ultimate manly luxury. You’ll never have a closer, smoother shave in your life. Unfortunately, we can’t get a shave like that every day. You can, however, borrow some of their skills and techniques. In order to recreate the experience, there are some simple tips you can follow at home. Using these tips will help you get a better shave, leaving you feeling confident and sexy.

    Take a Shower First

Taking a hot shower before you shave will ensure that your face and beard are properly wet. Wet hair is easier to cut, and wet skin will help prevent razor burn. If you can’t take a shower, place a warm, wet washcloth over your face for several minutes before shaving.

    Use a Non-Foaming Shave Gel

Recipe for Men has quality non-foaming shave gel, which will help keep your beard wet and allow the razor to glide effortlessly across your face. Lots of foam will only serve to clog up your razor and prevent you from getting the closest shave possible. It’s a good idea to leave your shaving gel on your skin for about a minute before shaving, so your beard will be thoroughly wet.

    Use a Shaving Brush

A shaving brush is an excellent tool that all men should have. A shaving brush will help make your shaving gel creamier. Apply in a circular motion, and it will also help lift your beard hairs away from your face so that you can get an ever closer shave. A shaving brush will also help exfoliate your skin by removing dead skin cells that can get in the way of your razor.

    Use a Sharp, High-Quality Razor

A sharp, high-quality razor is very important. A dull razor blade will give you razor burn. You should change your razor blade every three to ten shaves. In between shaves, you can also sharpen your razor blade by wiping it downward on a pair of jeans. Rinse your razor off using warm water while you’re shaving to remove built up hair and shaving gel.

Shave in the Direction of Hair Growth

The motion you use to shave is also important. Make sure you shave in the direction of the hair growth. To get the closest shave, go over the same area twice. Shaving against the hair growth may get you a slightly closer shave, but it will also cause bumpy, itchy razor burn.

    Wash and Moisturize

When you’re done shaving, be sure to wash your face with warm water and a mild facial cleanser. A face wash that contains witch hazel or tea tree oil is best, because it will act as a natural antiseptic and help to prevent razor burn. Finally, apply a light layer of an aftershave lotion or balm. Use something made specifically for after shaving; normal moisturizer will be too heavy and can leave your freshly shaved skin too greasy looking.

It may take a little practice to get the techniques just right, but you’ll catch on. It may also take a little bit of an investment to get the right tools for the best shave, but it’s worth every penny. Bonus tip: Don’t skimp on your shaving gel, brush, and razor. High-quality tools will last longer and will definitely live up to their value in the long run.

Aeromobil Flying Car is For Real Life Batman

No, this is no joke. And it is not made for a feature length movie of the jetsons cartoon. Aeromobil Flying Car is actually a car that flies. You read it right, a Slovakian engineer Stefan Klein first created the first prototype of the Aeromobil in the 90’s and has never stopped dreaming about it ever since. This has resulted in this bird like machine which has a 19 feet long body , a Rotax 912 engine, Carbon-coated steel frame for the passengers safety, collapsible wings  and the capability to reach a top speed of 124 mph. Currently called ‘the Aeromobil 2.5’, this CAR can seat two people and can take off and land, fortunately. There’s no word on commercialization of this concept. We’ve our fingers crossed.

1:60 Scale Boeing 777 Built from Paper Manilla Folders

A perfect display of meticulous crafting skills in the making of a 1:60-Scale Boeing 777, completely built from paper manilla folders by Luca Iaconi-Stewart from San Francisco. The inspiration came from his high school architecture class. He started constructing this masterpiece in his junior high school days back in 2008. He completed the model of Air India 777-300ER in five years after so many failed attempts of converting the manilla folders into a work of genius. He created the digital drawings of detailed schematics of a plane in Adobe Illustrator before printing them directly onto the paper manilla folders (from the cabin furnishings to the landing gear to the overhead bins to the first-class and cockpit seating) by using his X-Acto knife. The plane measures in at 48-inches by 12-inches. The wunderkind of the paper plane hopes to make an even larger 20-foot model after this project. The plane would look magical in an aeronautical museum or in a certain aircraft manufacturer’s lobby. [VIA]

5 Incredible Rides You Need Now

The latest trends in concept cars might still involve alternative energy and new tech, but style, speed, and general cool factor never go out of style for the true car enthusiast. Still, who doesn’t want a taste of the latest cool transportation?

Whether they’re in your stars or not, check out these five dream-worthy rides.

    Fiat 500 Abarth

5 Incredible Rides You Need Now (1)
Image via Flickr by Dave Humphreys

Stylish and aggressive, the Fiat 500 Abarth also proves practical with an MSRP listed below $25,000 and excellent fuel economy with 28/34 MPG city/highway.

Don’t be fooled by its diminutive appearance. The Abarth’s high-performance, 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine hits up to 160 horsepower and is paired with a five-speed manual and sport-tuned suspension.

To spice up the vintage look, the Abarth comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather upholstered dashboard, a Bose audio system, and of course, the signature scorpion logo. Optional features include two-tone leather seats, a cloth fold-back top, red or white racing body stripes, and 17-inch wheels.

Full of head-turning appeal, it’s the Everyman’s version of classic Italian design, speed, and sporty handling.

    Alfa Romeo 4C

5 Incredible Rides You Need Now (5)
    Image via Flickr by AlBargan

Alfa Romeo has plans to make at least 2,500 models per year of the sleek, sexy Alfa Romeo 4C. This coupe follows behind the 8C as the only Alfa to be hitting U.S. soil in the coming year.

Featuring a mid-engine chassis, rear-wheel drive, and a strikingly light carbon-fiber exterior, this turbocharged, 240-horsepower performer satiates any foreign sports car lover’s lust.

The estimated MSRP currently stands at a striking $84,000, pinning it against the Porsche Cayman and Lotus Evora.

    BMW i8

5 Incredible Rides You Need Now (4)
    Image via Flickr by pestoverde

Following in the footsteps of the i3, the BMW i8 is the second plug-in hybrid vehicle in BMW’s “i” lineup. Yet, unlike the suburban-friendly i3, the i8 is the first sports car that delivers progressive alternative fuel technology.

The i8 operates with a mid-mounted, 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-three cylinder engine that powers the rear wheels and a lithium-ion battery pack-powered electric engine that powers the front wheels for a combined 357 horsepower. To counteract the additional weight of the battery, the i8’s exterior uses a carbon fiber shell.

With its exotic look, wing doors, and luxury interior treatment, the i8 is supernaturally fun to drive. However, if the near $136,000 price tag exceeds your budget, check out some KBB cars for sale to start saving; you can buy two nifty hybrids there for less.

    Ford Transit Skyliner Concept
5 Incredible Rides You Need Now (2)

No one has ever said, “don’t judge a book by its cover” for car purchases. However, the 2015 Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is the exception.

Ford enlisted Galpin Auto Sports to spiff up its Transit Skyliner van so that the van would be less cheesy than a party bus, yet feel far more relaxed than a limo or executive sedan. Behind the driver’s section, this Skyliner features wood floors; four adjustable, captain bucket seats made of leather; a wine bar; a refrigerator; a Focal Utopia 7.2 surround sound system; motorized window shades; LED mood lighting; and the real clincher, a 52-inch, drop-down movie projector screen.

Sadly, Ford doesn’t really have plans to manufacture this swanky Skyliner Concept. However, Galpin might be willing to reproduce this stunner if you ask.

    Jaguar F-TYPE S
5 Incredible Rides You Need Now (9)
    Image via Flickr by jaguarmena

It’s been around 40 years since Jaguar produced a sports car. With the F-TYPE S, brand enthusiasts are celebrating the company’s return.

If you can pick your jaw up from the floor long enough to get into the car, you’ll find a supercharged V6 in the coupe that delivers 380 horsepower with Jaguar’s renowned smoothness. With a V8 in the convertible, the powertrain’s abilities extend to 550 horsepower.

The F-Type S costs less than the Alfa Romeo 4C, but at $77,000 MSRP, this speedy, gorgeous car might look better at a distance. Still, if you get to experience the buttery leather as the power spoiler pops at 50 miles per hour, enjoy our envy.

Many of these rides exceed most budgets, but there’s no doubt they’d top anyone’s dream list. Start filling your piggy bank, or go for the more affordable prize performers.

  • Apple Watch

    Apple Watch

Our most personal device yet. That’s what Apple like to say about their latest launch Apple Watch. The rumors of a smart watch from Apple have been doing the rounds since neanderthals stepped foot on earth or the dinosaurs, I’m not sure. Apple finally revealed Apple Watch in Cupertino on September to much appreciation and applause. The watch features a digital crown which manages the magnifying function on such a small screen. The crown on the Apple Watch can be used to zoom into apps by rotating or you can scroll seamlessly with it. The crown acts as a button as well and pressing it brings the device back to homescreen.

Apple has a created a tailor made OS for the Apple Smart Watch. The watch features a retina display polished with sapphire crystal which is the second hardest substance after diamond. The watch brings you every information on your wrist. You can glimpse the weather, next meeting in the calendar or your current location. It brings you all the notifications of mails, messages, calls instantly to your wrist. Even, the traffic conditions are a touch away. Siri is closer than ever, you can just raise your wrist and say, “hey, siri” and speak your query. Siri can dictate your messages, give navigation directions and a whole lot more. The Apple Watch also features a heart rate sensor and measures your daily physical activities. You can set your targets for activities and it will reward you when you achieve them.

The device taps you on your wrist when you receive a notification. You can also use this feature to share your heartbeat with someone, they’ll feel your heartbeat on their wrist. Apple has kept the charging very simple yet innovative. You simply need to hold the sealed connector near the back of the watch and it snaps onto it with the magnet in the connector. The watch comes in two sizes and three editions – Watch, Watch Sport, Watch Edition( polished with 24K Gold). Winter is Coming, so is The Apple Watch.

  • iPhone 6 Plus – Because Bigger is Better

iPhone 6 Plus – Because Bigger is Better

Bigger and Better was Apple’s motto in launching not one but two iPhones. The iPhone 6 Plus is the bigger of the two siblings. The iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch 1920X1080 screen which holds 401 pixels in every inch. In short, it’s phablet-sized iPhone 6. It has the same A8 chip and M8 motion co-processor that ignites iPhone 6. Just Like always, for iPhones, speed is all that matters. That’s why iPhone 6 Plus features superfast download speeds over LTE bands (even faster than iPhone 5S) and this model supports more LTE bands (up to 20) than any other smartphone in the world. Besides, the WIFI gives 3X more speed than the existing phones in the market. Interestingly, this model features LTE/VOLTE and WIFI calling which helps in calling from the areas where you don’t get good network signals.

The processor has a 64-bit architecture same as desktops and laptops. This is useful in playing high end graphics games and watching HD videos for longer time. The iPhone 6 Plus can play 80 hours of non-stop party music or run 14 hours of movies in HD before its battery runs out. It can last half a day of continuous browsing on WIFI/LTE/3G. This 7.1 mm thin device has a long battery life that gives you 16 days of standby time.

The camera of the iPhone 6 Plus comes with features like focus pixels for a faster focus and other features like continuous autofocus and enhanced noise-reduction. The M8 motion processor monitors data from compass, barometer, gyrometer and accelerometer. The sensors do not just measure steps and distance but even the changes in elevation.

The touch ID puts security at your fingertips, quite literally. Touch ID can read multiple fingerprints. It also helps in payments through Apple Pay. Just hold your phone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID button and, voila! You can use it to pay for boarding pass, bus tickets, coupons and many more. iPhone 6 is Here

The wait is finally over. The iPhone 6 is finally here. Apple calls it their best phone ever. And, they have reasons to believe that it is. The phone is developed keeping in mind that hardware and the software syncs in nicely. The Iphone 6 comes with a 4.7 inches HD Retina display. The phone might be large but it is in no way fat. It measures just 6.9 mm in depth. Not the slimmest phone out there but still, quite slim.

On the design front, it is entirely made up of anodized aluminium, stainless steel and glass. The iPhone 6 has been made keeping iOS 8 in mind. With all the features of the new OS syncing in with the new device. The 4.7 inch screen has the same 326 ppi as before but has a higher resolution of 1334X750.

The biggest add-on comes in the way of the new A8 chip and the enhanced M8 motion processor that tracks your activities along with an all new barometer. This new processor has made it 50% faster than the original iPhone and has 84% faster graphic processing. The camera hasn’t changed in terms of megapixels as it still has the 8 MP camera but with a larger pixel size of 1.5 micron and a f/2.2 aperture making heads turn. The camera records 1080p videos at 60 fps and 720p videos at a whopping 240 fps.  All this addition does not burn the battery as the iPhone 6 can play 50 hours of music or 11 hours of watching HD video or browsing on WIFI. That’s not all it also sports a 250 hours battery standby. The Touch ID is still there and improved with 360° orientation so, you can unlock your phone whether you’re in landscape or portrait mode. You can also purchase directly from iTunes, iBooks and App Store with third party apps integration now possible into Touch ID. The other big feature in the iPhone 6 is ‘Apple Pay’. Apple pay uses ‘NFC technology’ to make payments with a single touch. With Apple Pay, payments will be possible at 220,000 locations and more are going to add up in future. It comes in Gold, Silver and Space Gray. Shipping starts September 19 with the base version up for grabs for 199$ with a 2-year contract.
