Volkswagen’s new hybrid car looks like one super machine from sci-fi movies. The XL1 is the most unique car in the current age of world. It is hand-built and optimized to achieve maximum from aerodynamic shell and lower gravity. The XL1 plug-in hybrid system gives a remarkable mileage of 100km in just 0.9 liter of fuel. XL1 uses a 47hp, two-cylinder engine and a 20 kW (27 hp) electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery. Together the energy takes it from 0-62mph in 12.7 seconds and to the top speed of nearly 100 mph. Production will start soon.. (more…)

Volkswagen introduces a new SUV concept called Taigun. Presented at 2012 Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil this concept features front-wheel drive with six-speed manual transmission, powered by 1.0 liter turbocharged three cylinder engine having 108 hp and 129 ob-ft torque. This mid-range SUV can take reach to 60-mph in 9 seconds and to the top speed of 115-mph. To fulfill the demand of mid-range SUVs this model will be released soon in Asia, South Africa and Europe. Volkswagen introduces a latest special edition of the Volkswagen Scirocco GTS as part of 30th anniversary of first every Volkswagen Scirocco GTS. The newest model is powered by 2.0-liter cylinder turbocharged engine boasting 210 hp that can take the car from 0 to 62mph in 0.6 seconds and to its top of 148mph. The new Scirocco GTS has tweaked bumpers flashy five-spoke 18-inch wheels and Scirocco R’s rear diffuser and roof spoiler. (more…)

Volkswagen has released the 2013 Golf GTI Cabriolet convertible car. This model made its first appearance at Geneva Motor Show in March. Cabriolet is powered by 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine generating 207hp, allowing it to reach 60mph from in 0 in 7.3 seconds and top speed of 147mph, not very impressive but it is the fastest GTI convertible car ever. Volkswagen continues design and technological improvement in their bugs. Recently introduced E-Bugster Speedster concept is inspired by old Beetle but with new cuts and technology. E-Bugster Speedster is all-electric model featuring Blue-e-motion electric drive unit, powered by an electric motor that produces 114hp and 199 pound-feet of torque. To run all this, Bugster is powered be 695-pound lithium-ion battery juicy enough for 100 miles of driving. No words on interior and production so far. [via] (more…)
