  • How to Accommodate Vegans and Vegetarians with Restaurant Menu

How to Accommodate Vegans and Vegetarians with Restaurant Menu

There are many restaurants that are designed to cater for the needs of vegans and vegetarians in big cities. Despite this fact, your restaurant can still have many loyal fans that don’t consume meat and its byproducts. Apart from that, people with different food allergies can also leave your restaurant happy and satisfied. Some restaurants are now offering a wide range of menu options for people from all walks of life successfully. It’s a sure way to encourage people who have chosen to be health-conscious. On the other hand, restaurants that refuse to join this movement are gradually losing customers. Vegans and vegetarians can make your restaurant a favorite option in the following ways.
Understand the difference between the two terms
Vegans and vegetarians are closely related terms that have different meanings. They are often used interchangeably. A vegetarian doesn’t consume animal flesh, but can decide to eat some of the products that are derived from animals or not. There are different types of vegetarians that include lacto-ovo-vegetarians, lacto-vegetarians and ovo-vegetarians. Vegans don’t eat any animal flesh and all their products. Having a basic understanding of the two terms will go a long way when preparing your restaurant menu and sourcing for food products or ingredients.
Include vegan and vegetarian dishes in your menu
A restaurant’s website should serve more than providing directions for interested diners. It is quite common for consumers to check out the websites of companies before making a purchase. Ensure that detailed information about menus and ingredients are available on your website. Make it clear if some recipes can be altered or substituted for upon request. Creativity can be applied to make these dishes appealing to other customers as well. Contrary to popular belief, adding Vegan and Vegetarian Menu in Restaurant is less expensive and very easy. Tasty vegan versions of dishes that contain animal products can be prepared. After the process, take pictures of the food and upload them on your website and social media pages. As time goes on, your vegetarian and vegan customers will even invite their friends and family to eat in your restaurant.
    Look for meat alternatives
Once you’ve decided to make vegans and vegetarians dishes part of your Restaurant Menu, it’s imperative to find other sources of protein apart from meat. Soy-based foods are a popular source of protein and amino acids for people that don’t consume animal flesh. This is because it is cheap and very easy to prepare. It also helps to lower blood pressure and minimize bad cholesterol levels. Some of the products that can be derived from soy include tofu, tempeh, soy sauce and soy milk which is commonly used instead of cow milk. Legumes like chicken peas, lentils black beans are great sources of protein. As you prepare the meals endeavor to include fruits and vegetables. Getting the necessary ingredients and food products at local food stores is not a daunting task. Most of these stores hire knowledgeable staffs to give customers insights on the products that they are purchasing.

  • Latest super-food trends for healthy eaters

Latest super-food trends for healthy eaters

The super-food trend burst onto the front pages of press and media in the noughties with promises of foods that could kill cancer and increase lifespans by decades. In reality, we’ve just had medical advancements in analyzing the effect of certain food groups and understanding how diets affect the human body. This advancement has meant that we can now analyse the core ingredients of food and gain insights around which items of fruit have antioxidants and which meats contribute to faster muscle regeneration.

What is clear, is that simply eating a super food won’t cure all your maladies, nor will it protect you for the future by itself. Alison Hornby, a dietician and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association (BDA) told the NHS,

“If people mistakenly believe they can ‘undo’ the damage caused by unhealthy foods by eating a super-food, they may continue making routine choices that are unhealthy and increase their risk of long-term illness.”

Instead, super-foods should be viewed as a supplement to your existing dietary and exercise regime. They do have benefit in supporting health but shouldn’t be used over-reliantly. It’s no surprise therefore that more and more nutritionists and healthy eaters are looking at how to incorporate super-foods into their normal diet so they can enjoy tasty but nutritionally excellent meals.

We’ve analysed the latest trends and recipes and have come up with our favourite super-food and meal match-ups:

    Cooking with ingredient replacements

One of the most interesting trends observed is the replacement of ingredients in meals with super-foods which, you can buy from brands such as clearspring. For example, a home cooked turkey curry recipe can combine the lean protein-packed meat of turkey with the antioxidant properties of a bacterial yogurt sauce replacement. Even ingredients like turmeric can be replaced with natural super-food alternatives.

Supplement retailer Healthspan offer Opti-Turmeric, a formulated turmeric alternative that is 185 x times better-absorbed and 7 x times fast-acting replacement compared to ordinary turmeric. This ensures that cucumin is absorbed into the body more efficiently and helps support cartilage formation as well as protecting the immune system.

    Junk-food replacement with Super-food

Another popular trend is the replacement of traditional junk foods with super food ingredients. Take ice cream as a good example. Traditionally high in fat and sugar content, healthy eaters are now exploring super-food ice creams such as avocado ice cream and sweet potato ice cream.

Replacement of the traditional flavours with the likes of super-foods such as honey, avocado and cumin means that healthy eaters can still enjoy a luxury snack but still gain all the super-food benefits.

    International super-foods

We’ve all heard of the traditional super-foods such as blueberries, honey and nuts, but have you heard of kefir, teff and amaranth? Probably not.

More and more recipes for super-foods are incorporating international super-foods, and sometimes ancient ingredients. Amaranth for example is a type of grain used by the Aztecs that is gluten-free and comes with an abundance of protein, calcium and vitamin C.

    Supplements to your cereal

Increasingly becoming more common is the addition of supplements to cereals so healthy eaters can start their day fresh and energised. A simple addition of a fibre supplement such aspsyllium husks,to a bowl of porridge, oats or cereal can go unnoticed taste wise but provide the digestive system with a needed cleanse of toxins and other harmful materials.

Usually sold online and in major health and wellbeing stores, it can be sprinkled over lightly and transform an already healthy high-fibre breakfast into a super-food fuelled breakfast.

  • How Effective Of A Treatment Is Pet Therapy For The Elderly?

How Effective Of A Treatment Is Pet Therapy For The Elderly?

As we continue to learn more about the aging process and uncover alternative treatments for seniors, one technique increasing in popularity is pet therapy for the elderly. More often than not, people can visit a nursing home or hospice facility and see a dog or two roaming the halls. These animals have been specially trained to provide companionship to the elderly, and in some instances can become a full time pet.

While it might sound a little unconventional, the benefits of pet therapy in hospice facilities have proven results in both the mental and physical health of residents. How exactly is that possible? Let’s explore the benefits of these miracle animals.

    A Natural Mood Booster

Some say that having a pet around creates a more homelike environment, while others lean on their animals for companionship. Whatever the case may be, many studies have shown that having a pet around specifically for the purpose of therapy elevates the demeanor of the elderly. How could someone resist smiling when a big fluffy dog runs up to them, wagging their tail and longing to be pet?

From combating depression or helping to ease the transition into a later stage of life, pet therapy

for the elderly provides a feeling of calm and connectedness with another creature. This translates into lower blood pressure in patients as well as fewer instances of stroke and lower overall stress levels. While homecare professionals like Caring People realize that pet therapy isn’t a medical treatment per se, the effects of the animals are positive enough to promote having them present.

    Creating A Sense Of Purpose

Especially important for seniors who are experiencing mental degeneration, pet therapy for dementia patients provides a multifaceted opportunity. It can be hard to adjust to a new way of life where people and places feel unfamiliar, so for individuals dealing with dementia or Alzheimer’s, pet therapy has shown to reduce the amount of challenging behavior in these patients.

Seniors also benefit from having a true sense of purpose in their remaining lifetime. For those who are able, taking care of their companion gives patients joy and a reason to wake up every morning. Some of these animals are so connected to their owner that they can even sense when the end is near. Dogs in particular are keen to this change, and have been found laying in bed alongside their owner after he or she passes.

Making A Difference One Day At A Time

Animals of all kinds can find an opportunity to be a part of a greater good for the elderly. Whether it’s pet therapy in hospice or for a specific medical condition, using pet therapy for the elderly creates a positive bond between human and animal. Maybe it reminds patients of the dog they had when they grew up, or they particularly love to watch fish swim around, bringing them a sense of calm and relaxation. No matter the reason, animals can certainly bring us joy in every stage of life.

  • Men: Get Involved with the Meat and 2 Veg Campaign

Men: Get Involved with the Meat and 2 Veg Campaign

This month, male cancer charity Orchid and Ladbrokes Bingo are partnering up in order to help raise more awareness of male cancers and the importance of a healthy lifestyle and regular checking in avoiding these conditions or being able to catch them in the early stages. The two hope to achieve this by harnessing the power of the thousands of people who share pictures of their food on social media each day. Meals are some of the most popularly shared photographs on Facebook, Instagram and other social media networks, with people wanting to show off their culinary creations or perhaps share a stunning restaurant meal with their friends. But, this campaign is asking you to share pictures of your food for a deeper reason!

    How to Get Involved

The Meat and 2 Veg Campaign, run by Orchid and sponsored by Ladbrokes Bingo, is easy to get involved with. The campaign is asking anybody who wants to participate to post a picture of their meal, preferably a dish which comprises of meat and two vegetables, on Twitter with the hashtag #meatand2veg. You can do this as many times as you like for the duration of November, and it’s up to you whether or not you’d like to send a donation to Orchid as well.

    Raising Awareness

By launching the campaign, Orchid hope to raise more awareness of male cancers and help men to become more aware of the importance of checking ‘down there’ for abnormalities. The campaign’s aim is to highlight the need for more awareness of this, along with the fact that very often, it’s the man’s partner who is doing most of the checking. Along with raising awareness, Orchid and Ladbrokes also hope to raise some funds for the charity. Once two hundred pictures have been posted, Ladbrokes Bingo has pledged to give £1,000 to the charity, rising to £1,500 should over 250 people share their photographs. Overall, the main goal is to raise at least £5,000 towards research into and more awareness for male cancers. This campaign can go even further when social media is applied to it. This video distribution agency would be perfect to collaborate with on any future social media campaigns.

    About Male Cancer

Cancer is currently one of the most common causes of death in adult males. Whilst many of these deaths are caused by cancers which affect both genders, many men die as a result of gender-specific cancers, such as prostate cancer. Once cancer spreads, it can be difficult to treat, which is why regular personal check-ups and reporting any abnormalities, no matter how insignificant they may seem, is important. Early symptoms of male cancer can often be synonymous with symptoms for other, less serious conditions, however they should never be ignored. With this campaign, Orchid hope to ensure that their voice is heard when it comes to informing men about the importance of regular checking and why it’s always important to seek medical advice about something that doesn’t seem quite right.

As a man, November is all about you and raising awareness for the types of cancers that only men face. Together with Orchid and Ladbrokes Bingo, taking part in this campaign is a way for men to come together and stand up to male cancer.

Making 187 steps stairway leads from the cliff-top right down to the sea level. This could be the most incredible experience for youngsters. There are no elevators, only leg power is required. • Arnold Schwarzenegger And 6 Rules Of Success

Arnold Schwarzenegger And 6 Rules Of Success

A successful actor, a world renowned bodybuilding champion and now the 38th Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger shared his 6 Rules of Success in a commencement speech at University of Southern California after receiving the doctorate. Here are the rules by Dr. Arnold.

1-: Trust Yourself- So many young minds are getting too many advices from others but the best thing is that dig deep down and figure out yourself, what you want to be not what others are asking. Be that what you want to, what makes you happy, ignoring that how crazy it may sound to others. Just trust yourself at every step of your life.

2-: Break the Rules- We have so many rules in life about everything, do that, do this, don’t go there, etc. I say break the damn rules but not the law. It is impractical to follow all of them. Think outside of the box if you want to be different and praised by all. Break some rules and avoid trouble.

3-: Don’t be Afraid to Fail- Don’t be afraid to take the risks. You can’t do everything right without failing in that first. Don’t be scared of risky decision making. You can’t be stuck with the fear of loss. Keep pushing yourself towards your goal. If you know it is the right thing, don’t back down.

4-: Don’t Listen to the Naysayers- You may hear all the time that, you can’t do this, you can’t do that, it is never been done before and so on. Cherish this line when someone says, no one has ever done this before. Take it this way that you could be first one to do it. Pay absolute no attention to these naysayers.

5-: Work Your Butt Off- You don’t want to fail in life just because you didn’t work hard enough. Don’t leave any stone unturned. Take control of what you started and then say, see you on the other side. As Mohammad Ali said, “I don’t count my sit-ups; I only start counting when it starts hurting. Because when I feel pain, that’s one it really counts.” That’s the reason; this phrase is with everything, “no pain, no gain.”

6-: Always Give Something Back- Whatever path you take in life; don’t forget where you came from. Becoming a successful person does not make you good; giving something back to your society, to the country makes you great. The feeling of giving back takes you to the higher levels than before in your life. Then give more back to achieve even greater status.

Prepare yourself, embrace these rules and now go out to the world to achieve greatness.

    Best Movies of 2013 : Part I

Welcome to the grand finale. What’s gone is definitely not gone when it comes to movies because some stories are meant to last forever. Here we are to look back the year’s best, favorable and at last but not the least attention seeking movies. Some of them were legitimate blockbusters smashes and some of them were not that good. The list is random not the ranked. Without further upheaval, here we go…

At the top the film that showed rarity, occupied mind as well as heart and pushed the imaginative frontiers.

    Gravity:
This is a great endurance story set in outer space. The director Alfonso Cuaron depleted years in the making of this piece, did not compromise the apparition and pushed the boundaries of filmmaking. This was fully recompensed with the successful hit at the box office. Just few films craft a sense of wonder like Cuaron in this film in the CGI age. This was a big achievement.Best Movies of 2013.Gravity

    Frozen:
This one is one of the Disney’s immense animated piece of work. This was a financially big hit at the box office and critically acclaimed. This was a well crafted fairy tale of feminist adventure of two womanly protagonists. The script is amusing and the songs are lively and it’s visually outstanding.Best Movies of 2013.Frozen

    Iron man 3:
This is the third installment of action packed series. This is a brilliant piece of art by Marvel. This was a huge success at the box office securing over a billion dollar. The film showed a sharp political commentary and twisted plot. This is an exciting adventure, funny and character driven movie.Best Movies of 2013.Iron Man 3

    12 years a slave:
This one is sweltering and emotionally overwhelming of a man that abducted and sold into slavery. It was not a big hit but the story is really eye-catching. This film showed the physical torture and psychological horrors of slavery. This is truly one of the greatest films of the year.Best Movies of 2013.12 years a slave

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty:
This is sweet story of a man who dreams of being much more.  Quiet fascinating. He finally gets the opportunity to live the dreams when he looks for the missing star photographer. Expect wonderful dreams and possibly, in the end, a splendid reality as well.Best Movies of 2013.The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug:
This is the second part (a spin-off) of the Peter Jackson’s legendry Lords of The Rings. A bunch of elves fight a giant dragon and the dragon in the mountain. Gandalf will be off encountering the Necromancer while the dwarves and their hobbit “burglar” wrestle their way through Mirkwood to the fateful quarrel with their big and scaly nemesis. This is one adventure that not to be missed.Best Movies of 2013.The Hobbit

    Now You See Me:
Films concerning magic often struggle on the fact that cinema itself is magical and can annul out the impact of their activities. But the spectacular illusions and the clever addition of some unfortunate, helpless FBI and Interpol agents to try to understand the tricks make for a joyful adventure. The poky coppers can’t compare with the magicians’ hady work well at first at least. Early in the year it was full of tortured heroes and apocalyptic visions but this movie romp was a deserved hit.Best Movies of 2013.Now You See Me

As we deal up with 2013 box office reviews, in a fit of excitement, you will be seeing best of 2014 anticipated movies.

Superfast Rock-Paper-Scissors Robot ‘Wins’ Every Time

A high speed intelligent Robot Hand is built by the scientists at the Ishikawa Oku Laboratory, part of the University of Tokyo which ‘wins’ the rocket-paper-scissors game so fast against a human every single time. They name it Janken which is the Japanese version of the game. “It uses high-speed recognition and reaction, rather than prediction”. It takes the robot one millisecond to recognize the shape a human hand is making and then it responds and moves accordingly even faster than the human hand itself. Actually it doesn’t premeditate its action simultaneously rather it just reacts. Watch the video and get surprised. VIA
