  • Honda’s amazing self-balancing motorcycle defies gravity

Honda’s amazing self-balancing motorcycle defies gravity

So far, a lot of innovative gadgets have been unveiled since the opening of CES 2017 but this self-balancing motorcycle couldn’t be better. Honda has achieved another mile stone by using the Riding Assist technology that doesn’t just keep the bike in the upright position but also makes it easy for the rider to handle the bike. Larger, heavier bikes are more difficult to handle and require more efforts to balance the bike especially when it’s slowing down. This tech aims at providing stability at slow speeds. The real magic is behind the forks (metal bars connecting to the front wheel). The bike autonomously adjusts the angle of front fork by using on-board sensors — calculating thousands of adjustments per second, in order to keep the driver and the bike in the upright position. Instead of gyroscope, it uses an electric motor in the front-wheel hub, that allows it to move by itself.

  • Yamaha Yard Built XV950 Ultra by GS Mashin

Yamaha Yard Built XV950 Ultra by GS Mashin

The Swiss Custom Designer GS Mashin tied up under the Yamaha Yard presents Yamaha XV 950 Ultra. GS Mashin was founded three years ago by Tom Mosimann, crew member of The Niners. In his small workshop in Bern the the project XV 950 Ultra got it makeover in a very Yard Built-style without cutting or welding work.

The handmade lining of the Yard Built XV 950 Ultra consists of 1.5mm thick steel. Also the tank, the upper edge was made by using a bending press and the lower part of the tank based on the original 950 XV. The turn signals sit in the extraordinarily shaped body and headlights has got space behind black grille. The rear light unit comes from Shin Yo, handmade leather seat from Jose Rey Saddlery and the aluminum triple clamp by Asic Robotics

For the wheels of the Yard Built XV950 Ultra the original hubs were used, coupled with a rear 18-inch rim and a 21-inch front wheel with new spokes. ABS is also on board. Like it or not but the end result is impressive!

  • PRAEM Converts Honda RC-51 into Modern SP3 Motorcycle

PRAEM Converts Honda RC-51 into Modern SP3 Motorcycle

A unique machine design based on Honda RC51 SP2. The project was first introduced at the Salon de la Moto that was held in last December. After being unveiled to the public for the first time in Paris, this unique machine will be on sale in the coming weeks.

PRAEM is a young brand started in 2014 by two brothers Sylvain and Florent Berneron. The first embodiment of the French duo is thus the SP3. A name that has not been chosen at random because it’s a Honda VTR 1000 SP2 RC51.

The engine of the RC51 is mainly made of magnesium and aluminum while the distribution is via a cascade of gears rather than a string or a conventional belt. Despite its quality design, machine series had some weaknesses compared to the factory model, brakes and suspension were not as good as the rest of the chassis, especially the rear cylinder was locked in the tank, creating heat issues and therefore reliability. Praem has therefore set out to correct these defects by keeping the engine block and all the original geometry.

The chassis has greatly expanded with the use of components among the most developed market: Rotobox carbon rims, Brembo radial brakes and carbon-ceramic discs or a full Öhlins suspension. But what strikes first when discovering the SP3 is certainly its design. Defined by its creators as a Sport-GT, the Praem SP3 is distinguished by its full fairing made of 2mm stainless son and inspired by the work of Korean artist Park Seung Mo.

However, these brothers are more than purely aesthetic since they allow influencing the porosity by varying their density. The penetration of air is favored here at Ram air primarily as the heat dissipation at the side heaters. To this are added other noble materials such as aluminum tank or Alcantara saddle.

Started in January 2015, the project took a total 4000 hours of work, from design to manufacturing. The prepared engine now allows to develop 165 horsepower and 125 Nm for a dry weight of 180 kg while the new tank has a capacity of 12 liters.

The auction event will be held on 4th February in Bonhams. The SP3 is already estimated at between €95,000 to €145,000. But now all depends on how auction goes.

  • Lvpvs Alpha Motorcycle by Officine RossoPuro

Lvpvs Alpha Motorcycle by Officine RossoPuro

There is a place in the world where they create the best special that you can find around. It’s called Officine Rossopuro and based in Pescara. Philip Barbican – the name of the one who is behind the garage – has now brought his creations to what Americans would define as the “next level”. Rossopuro workshops now designs motorbikes scratch, forming small masterpieces of engineering. Such is the case of Lvpvs Alpha, a single copy carried out with the collaboration of Walter Tosto, a company specializing in the production of reactors used in refinery, chemical and petrochemical plants worldwide.

The bike gets new forks. Both are the result of a 3D design made specifically according to the requirements of Officine Rossopuro. Also the two rear shock absorbers were replaced. In their place a new mechanism consisting of a dual-sided view that leaves the card, connected to two units Bitubo. The rear frame carrier is CNC, obviously built adhoc, the tank has been moved to the rear position and is CNC, while six-piston calipers are made of Incoloy 800h, the material from which the products are of reactors are made. It ensures excellent resistance to high temperatures, pressure and corrosion.

In place of the old tank there is now a voluminous “box” in carbon, within which is contained the battery, the control unit and the components of the electric circuit. Enjoy

  • BMW R100 Cafe Racer by Svako Motorcycles

BMW R100 Cafe Racer by Svako Motorcycles

With its post-apocalyptic look, this two-wheeler could well have found its place in the final part of the saga Mad Max. Sniffing the dust, the BMW R100 is practically unrecognizable after its passage in the workshops of Svako Motorcycles.

The project “Sbang” is certainly one of the most ambitious ever made by the preparer. Equipped with a tank in marked genuine bullet holes, this custom cafe racer also has a set of tires Heidenau – much hanging surfaces, whether asphalt or mud – but also to a surprising control panel fixed to the tank and to manage the ignition and fire. Relying on a flat twin-cylinder Boxer engine 1170 CC, so this BMW R100 has very little to do with the original model. And that’s good.

Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 by El Solitario

In the microcosm of preparers, El Solitario is known for its very crude approach to the subject and the overall harmony of its motorcycles. Dubbed Malo/Bueno – the name refers “to anthropomorphic work” performed to characterize the mechanical monster lurking under the visage – the model is based on 2003 modal of Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 and has false air of Iron Giant Disney . The lines are angular and the general look of the bike, rather plush. The bubble lights like a face and consists of a pair of optical inlaid four yellow LED reminders to rivets that divide said bubble at the front of the bike. A personification taken to extremes without sacrificing performance. [via]

  • Tri-Motorcycle “Autoveicolo Da Montagna”

    Tri-Motorcycle “Autoveicolo Da Montagna”

The official name of this ride is “Autoveicolo Da Montagna”(mountain car). The purpose of the project was to create a mechanism for crossing mountain ranges. The pictures are exhibits from the Russian Museum “motomire Vyacheslav Sheyanova (Motor of war)” in Samara. It was restored in Italy by Master Costantino Fronalini, who manages his own museum. In the early 60s the company Moto Guzzi developed a specialized machine, a “mechanical mule” to transport goods through the mountains. From a technical point of view, we consider a masterpiece of engineering. The front wheel is a chain drive, and there are also switchable differential is established between the front and rear axles. Rear track can be adjusted depending on the operating conditions. The tri-motorcycle can bear 500kg or weight maximum. Now days its hard to find this kind of thing available to ride.
